Anything but not anyhow
Here, we do share the idea that all and everything, that's to say even the most insignificant or ugly knick-knack or situation or whatever, could be a great subject as soon as we give it the same attention and intention level as we usually do for things, people or situation generally considered as beautiful or interesting.
Let's see it as the worst pupil in a class you would put all your work and love to transform him/her into the best one instead of throwing him/her to the very deep of the classroom and forget he/she even exists...
Let's give soul to the forgotten...
As obvious as it may seem, we are not one more group for beautiful
nature, squared, abstract, pictorialist, B&W, street photography... images, not that we don't like those, we are all members and/or even admins of some of them, it's just that DA doesn't need us to pay any tribute to those things, nawak things do
Neither are we a snapshot group craving for images your camera could have taken on its own without any effort and/or intention from you...
A nawak doesn't have
to adhere to any kind of style or school
- it doesn't have to be a square but it can be
- it doesn't have to be B&W but it can be
- it doesn't have to be pictorialist or abstract or grungy or whatever once more but it can be, even all at once...
It only has to be an image of "something" that would not deserve anybody's attention or that is in such a situation no one would normally shoot it and you put all you have to make a great picture with, well, needless to say, it does have to be great !
Your nawak can be an old photo you had forgotten and suddenly feel like editing sumptuously as well as it can be intentionally shot during a carefully planned (or disastrously improvised
) nawak hunting party (lots of fun, just try it!)
Rules are that simple, great images of things or situations or, well, as usual, whatever... that were totally uninteresting until YOU shot them and made them great! Submit to the... "submit here
" folder, we'll take care of the rest.
Most of all, have fun!
Forgot to say, as soon as you know what it means, one important thing you'll need to join us will be, at least, a "slight" dose of humor
to accept your image being classified under this "category"...* Nawak comes from a French expression, "n'importe quoi", turned into "n'importe nawak" or "port' nawak" which means something between "anything and everything" and "rubbish" depending on the context, still there?
